2/3 cup sugar
2 1/4 cup water
3 eggs, seperated
2 T. lemon juice
2 T. butter
1 9 in. pie shell, baked
Combine pie filling, sugar, and 1/4 cup water in saucepan. Blend in beaten egg yolks, then add remaining 2 cups water. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a full boil and is thickened; this should take about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add lemon juice and butter. Blend well. Pour into baked pie shell. Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add 6 tablespoons sugar. Continue beating until it stands in stiff peaks. Spread on pie. Bake in at 425 for 5-10 minutes. Cool.
