Pumpkin Cake

Won first place at the Butler County Fair!

2 cups sugar
1/2 t. salt
1 cup oil or butter
2 cups self-rising flour or 2 cups flour + 2 t. baking soda
2 t. cinnamon
1 small can pumpkin
4 eggs

Cream Cheese Icing:
1 stick margarine
8-oz. cream cheese
2 t. vanilla
16 oz confectioner sugar
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream sugar and oil; add eggs. Then add dry ingredients. Mix well. Next add pumpkin and mix well. Bake for about 40 minutes at 350.

Cream together margarine and cream cheese. Add vanilla, confectioner sugar, and pecans. Spread on cooled cake.
