Rita’s Salad

I don’t know who Rita is, but my family likes it when I make this salad when they come over for supper.

1 head lettuce (chopped)
½ pound cheese, shredded (I use cheddar)
Homemade croutons

CROUTONS:
¾ cup butter (melted)
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
¼ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon onion salt
Pinch of oregano
12-14 thin slices of bread

Mix spices together and add melted butter. Spread bread with butter mixture; cut into small cubes. Bake at 250 degrees until dry.

DRESSING:
1 cup sugar
¾ cup cooking oil
1 cup mayo
4 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon onion salt
Pinch of garlic salt

Layer lettuce, cheese, and croutons in bowl. Serve with dressing.
