Oatmeal Crispies

Grandma Jean said you can add raisins, chocolate chips, or dried cranberries to these. She would make 1 plain and 1 with whatever.

1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs (beaten)
1 t. vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
3 cups quick oats
1/2 cup nuts (chopped)

Cream shortening and sugars. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together the flour, soda, and salt and add. Stir in oats and nuts. Form in rolls and chill throughly. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
